Summary of the program


This wonderful tour will guide travelers through several of the wonders offered by the western and central part of the Island along with a closed approach to the flourishing private sector and its economic, artistic and social development.

Itinerary

The itinerary is subjected to change according to local conditions, such as traffic, weather or availability of the cultural projects. 

Activities in this itinerary should be considered a sample only. Final itineraries are sent to guest one or two weeks prior to departure. The tour start time will vary slightly depending on flight arrivals.

    After a 45 min flight you will be at Havana International Airport ‘José Martí’. Outside the terminal you will be welcomed by a Cuba Bien staff member and your local guide.


    Picked up from the airport in a comfortable bus, first stop for lunch at a family-owned restaurant, called by Cubans ´paladar´.

    Visit Muraleando, a social and cultural project in Havana´s outskirts where group of artists and independent social workers have given back life to one of the poorest neighborhoods in Havana.


    Transfer and check in to ´casa particular´, the name Cubans give to a family-owned bed and breakfast.


    Welcome dinner at a ´paladar´. After dinner we will attend an evening show called Legendarios del Guajirito with live music from new and old members of the famous Buena Vista Social Club.


    A bus will take you back to ´casa particular´. If you wish to stay a little longer your guide will let you know how to get a taxi back on your own.

    Breakfast at ´casa particular´.

    Departure to a guided tour in Old Havana, a World Heritage Site, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the history and importance of the 4 mains plazas. Meet with Members of a Graphic Arts Cooperative and discuss what they do for a living.

    Lunch at a local ´paladar´.
    After lunch you will visit The Art Craft Market ´Almacenes San José´, the biggest artisan's market in Old Havana, a space created for sellers of handicrafts. This is an opportunity to share with the local artisans.

    On the way to return to ´casa particular´ you will enjoy a panoramic tour around Paseo del Prado, Parque Central and El Capitolio and visit to a small private Cuban bakery to understand the way in which the entrepreneurs make their way in the current difficult Cuban economy
    Dinner at a local ´paladar´.

    Breakfast at ´casa particular´and check out.

    Departure to the City of Cienfuegos, the so called Pearl of the South, one of the most beautiful cities in Cuba because of the richness of its architecture inherited from its French roots. You will have lunch at a ´paladar´ located by the city´s harbor.

    After lunch we will walk around the main square and boulevard of Cienfuegos.

    Visit to the community project of ´Jobero Verde´, at the country side, where you will have the chance tolearn more about de Cuban Music.

    Back to the bus and the tour continues to the colonial architecture city of Trinidad, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

    Check in at the ´casa particular´.

    Dinner at a local ´paladar´.

    Meet with local musicians and dancers at Plaza Mayor.

    Breakfast at ´casa particular´ and check out.

    Visit of Trinidad and the artisan´s workshop Santander, where traditional ceramics are made.

    After lunch in a local ´paladar´, departure to the city of Santa Clara. 

    Visit to Santa Clara's Central Plaza, the heart of the city since colonial times and time to admire centuries old buildings, including the Central Theater.

    Check in to ´casa particular´in a nice neighborhood in Santa Clara.

    Dinner at a local ´paladar´.

    Breakfast at ´casa particular´.
    We will embark in an hour trip to Remedios, a picturesque town north of Santa Clara.
    Visit a workshop to see first-hand the ingenuity of the local Artists who passionately work all year to create the most spectacular float: Parrandas San Salvador, where independent Artists create their own design of Carrozas to later on compete in the Festivities. They use recycled material for their creations.
    Lunch at a local ´paladar´ at Remedios
    Return to ´casa particular´.
    Farewell dinner at a local ´paladar´.
    After dinner a visit to El Mejunje, the most open-minded club in all Cuba. Since 1985, everyone from rockers to LGBTs, from poets to stand-up comedians has found a safe place at El Mejunje where they can express themselves.

    Breakfast  at the ´casa particular´, check out and travel heading to the Santa Clara Airport for return flight home. Airlines recommend that you arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to departure.
